The successful candidate will be assigned to work in acute care healthcare facilities.

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Hours of Work: 

  • Must be available to work a minimum of 45 hours per month
  • Shifts are eight (8) hours in length, depending on facility placement needs
  • Must be able to be scheduled for assignments that are considered "urgent/last minute/early morning" (e.g. called for assignments within 2 hours or from start of shift)
  • Day shifts, including statutory holidays

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides secretarial support to the medical and clinical staff as required including medical dicta typing, word processing and filing
  • Maintains health records for clients
  • Works in a manner to ensure safety to oneself, clients, colleagues and the work environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of Medical Secretary Course at a Community College or equivalent
  • Two years’ medical secretarial experience

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Well organized and self-motivated
  • Proficiency with medical terminology and medical dictaphone typing/word processing an asset
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement, to problem solve and to make decisions and work independently
  • Accurate minimum typing speed of 70 w.p.m. preferred
  • Experience in dictating preferred
  • Knowledge of statistical gathering and entering
