Congratulations on Retirement! | Carecor Health Services celebrates Carol Farkas for 25 years of outstanding service
By Edison Sandoval, Marketing Coordinator
Carol Farkas is retiring from Carecor Health Services (Carecor) after 25 amazing years working at Canada’s leading health staffing agency. Feeling grateful to have been a part of the organization since 1998, Carol will miss her co-workers, whom she considers her family, and she will always cherish the memories she made over the years.
“I love the people, I love the staff, I am a people person,” says Carol, Director of Client Services, Carecor Health Services, Toronto branch. “My proudest moment while working for the company was during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. We also went through Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003, and it was a big deal. I looked after the sick healthcare providers by touching base with all of them, but it pales compared to the pandemic.” Farkas explains that she saw the dedication with all her staff coming together and functioning as a robust team. The commitment of the healthcare providers working with the office staff, even though they were working remotely as of March 16th, 2020, was terrific!
Carol obtained a Diploma in Nursing from Conestoga College in 1980 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Ryerson University in 1984. Carol’s dedication to her profession is evident in her work as a nurse at various hospitals in Toronto, including Wellesley Central Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital. Her commitment to her career led her to join Carecor as an Educator in April 1998.
Soon after, she took on the Director of Client Services role in Toronto, a position she has held ever since. Despite her demanding job, she pursued a master’s degree in nursing and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1999.
Carol’s achievements attest to her hard work and determination, and she serves as a role model for all those who desire to reach their full potential in their careers.
“My biggest accomplishment was coordinating the Accreditation Program from 2000 all the way up to 2020,” says Carol. “I’ve seen the business grow from only nurses to Personal Support Workers (PSWs), and we have an excellent reputation of healthcare providers who are highly trained. They are professional, and the clients love them.”
During her time at Carecor, Carol witnessed the organization grow from providing care in a few hospitals to more than 60 hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area, including locations in York, Durham, and Peel, all of whom are her loyal clients.
When asked what advice she has for someone just starting their career, Carol says to get as much education as possible. “Always challenge yourself and put yourself in the uncomfortable zone so you can see yourself grow,” explains Carol. “Nursing is a great profession with endless potential. The world is yours.”
Carol is now setting out on a new thrilling adventure to discover the world’s wonders, with her first stop being Italy’s magnificent and picturesque country.
“I would like to say best wishes to Carecor and Bayshore. Since Carecor joined the Bayshore family in 2017 and 2018, we have built an excellent company with outstanding resources. I wish both the best and great success while continuing to provide excellent services,” Carol concludes.
Congratulations on your retirement, Carol! We wish you the best!
